appleOVERVIEW
Completely removes the need to learn HTML
Allows all management of your web site remotely from a Web browser
Allows approved persons to submit content themselves rather than rely upon the availability of a single, designated web master
Allows document submissions from any computer connected to the Internet
Allows you to enforce a review process for content submitted by certain users. This ensures that before any document appears on your web site, a Reviewer has approved the submissions.
Allows you to “check out” previously submitted documents for editing and submission
Management and viewing of sites requires no plug-ins be downloaded or users purchase any client authoring license.
Fully compatible with Internet Explorer, Netscape/Mozilla and Opera browsers.
appleDOCUMENTS
Converts Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Text documents to HTML, handles HTML, Adobe PDF, AVI, Real-Audio Streaming media, MP3 (and a variety of other) files in their native formats,
Completely browser-based administration allows for customization of folder organization with unlimited levels of folders and sub-folders,
Allows modification of folder names and their relative location,
Supports folder insert and delete operations,
Allows permitting or restricting document submission privileges to individual users or groups of users; this is configurable down to the individual folder level,
Allows for configuring folder sort methods (for example, alphabetized by document title or sorted chronologically by date submitted),
Automatically notifies by Email the appropriate reviewer when documents are waiting for approval. System also will notify the original submitter if/when their document is rejected for some reason by the reviewer.
appleUSERS
Browser based user management system allows designated staff the ability to manage other accounts, creating new, changing passwords, etc.
Encrypted password storage with system enforcement of minimum password length and requirement for numeric or punctuation characters (this is configurable by site administrator for all users of system) ,
File quota assignment to users, allowing limits to be placed on the total size of documents that can be uploaded by that user. Notification to users each time they submit a document regarding the size of the document being submitted currently and the total amount of their quota used to date,
Notification at time of submitting document when a file is of sufficiently large size that it is likely to cause an unreasonable delay for viewers,
School-specific Reviewer has ability to add or modify user properties and make school specific changes to the site,
District-level Administrator has ability to log into any member school and review documents, modify user accounts, change folder hierarchy, and otherwise assume responsibilities normally attributed to that Schools Reviewer,
Ability to define “implicit” users of system whose rights mirror those of another “explicit” user. Typically this is useful for allowing a teacher to provide their students with the ability to submit documents. Separate passwords are developed for the teacher and her class as a whole.
appleSECURITY
Anybody on the Internet can see the approved content for your school's web site. However, the ability to submit Web content is controlled by school assigned logins and passwords. In order to make any modification to the web site -you must have a school assigned login and password,
Folder level security allows site reviewers and administrators the ability to identify which users are able to manage content in which folders. This allows you to say, "Only the 3 kindergarten teachers and the group of users known as Front Office Staff are allowed to submit content to the folder "Kindergarten Classes". Management of these permissions is done by way of a web-browser,
Integrated with netChalk is a document review process. This ensures that only appropriate content appears on your site and is configurable on a school specific basis. A typical configuration entails having all student submissions first reviewed by their teacher, and then reviewed by a school assigned Reviewer. This is configurable to a large degree by the site administrator and also completely managed via a web-interface
